Virginia trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She spent two decades moving between fashion and interiors. Both taught her the same lesson. Of every room in a house, the kitchen became her favorite. It is where a family really lives, where mornings start and evenings gather, and so it is the room most worth getting right. It is also where the stakes are highest. You look at a six-figure decision every day for years.

A contractor can build almost anything you put in front of them. The hard part is deciding what to put in front of them. Cabinets, stone, hardware, lighting and paint have to read as one room, not as a pile of good choices that never quite agree. That is a styling problem as much as a building one, and it is the problem a fashion-trained designer is built for. She edits, sizes and pairs until the room feels obvious.
